Our Story
What began as a small Bible study in Round Top, Texas, has grown into a faithful community of believers dedicated to worship, service, and spiritual growth. Since 1997, Round Top Church Christian Fellowship has sought to honor God by remaining true to His Word, debt-free in our work, and open to all who desire to know Him. Each chapter of our history reflects God’s provision and the loving commitment to His people.
1997
A group of Christians—primarily from First Baptist Church in La Grange—began holding Bible study meetings in Round Top, Texas. Soon, they rented space on the town square along FM 237 and formally organized as Round Top Baptist Church. Without a full-time pastor, guest speakers led worship each Sunday. During this time, the church received a generous gift designated for land and a future building. Using those funds, 1.5 acres were purchased at 440 E. Mill Street, the site we still call home today.
1999
The church welcomed its first full-time pastor, Matthew Diehl, and voted to change the name to Round Top Church Christian Fellowship—a name that reflected a desire to welcome all believers, regardless of denomination. The Fellowship grew as new residents and like-minded Christians found a home for worship and community.
2000
An additional half-acre of land was purchased behind the original property, creating a two-acre site. Round Top Church began a building program and, within one year, completed a multi-functional community building—paid in full and debt-free.
2001
Veronica Skaggs, now our Children’s Ministry Director, began serving as a Sunday School teacher.
2002
Construction of the current church building was completed.
2006
The church team launched a Vacation Bible School program.
2008
The Stand Out After-School Program began. Today, some of the children who once attended now serve as tutors and support staff in this ministry.
2010
The Fellowship purchased 2.5 additional acres next to the existing site, expanding space for future ministry.
2017
A new covered addition was built at the back of the building to provide handicap-accessible parking and recreational space, paid for in cash. That same year, the Sew and Sew Ministry was founded—bringing together women from the Fellowship and the community to share their gifts and serve others.
2020
The church launched a YouTube channel to share uplifting messages and weekly sermon reflections.
2021 & Beyond
Round Top Church Christian Fellowship continues to grow—adding roles such as Tech Media Coordinator, Tech Media Support, and additional staff for the Stand Out After- School Program—all in service of sharing God’s love in Round Top and beyond.
Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, we remain thankful for God’s faithfulness and the people He has brought together in this Fellowship. Our prayer is that Round Top Church continues to be a place where faith deepens, relationships grow, and lives are changed through Christ’s love. Whether you’re new to Round Top or have been part of this story for years, we invite you to worship, serve, and grow with us.
