Our Team
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, in what I like to call a “Leave It to Beaver” neighborhood, graduating from high school in 1976. My understanding of humanity deepened when, at age 21, I joined the Houston Police Department. My years in law enforcement gave me a front-row seat to both the brokenness and the resilience of people.
Before coming to Round Top in December 1999, I served as pastor of a new church plant (1994–1997), and later worked in several roles at Houston Baptist University in the Office of Advancement, where I served as Alumni Director. I also spent a year as the Southwest Ministry Representative in Houston for the American Bible Society, based in New York.
My wife, Renee, and I followed the Lord’s calling to Round Top in 1999, where we joyfully served together for more than two decades. On September 29, 2020, Renee went home to be with the Lord after a year-long battle with cancer. Throughout her illness, God’s love and peace sustained us both. Though her time here ended sooner than I ever hoped, I rest in the promise that we will be reunited in Christ.
I am also a cancer survivor, having been diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2015. Through multiple treatments and surgeries, I learned firsthand how God’s grace and mercy uphold us in the midst of suffering. Even in loss, I’ve seen that God’s love overcomes every trial—even death itself. Renee understood this truth deeply. She chose to trust God through her life and in her final days, knowing His love would carry her home.
“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” — John 14:20
I share this story in the hope that someone walking through their own difficult season might find encouragement and peace in God’s promises.
Renee and I were blessed with two children, Christopher and Jeniffer, and one granddaughter, Eva—each a reminder of God’s continuing goodness.
My professional journey has included 12 years with the Houston Police Department (beginning in 1979), where I developed a heart for serving people in all walks of life. I earned a B.S. in Political Science and Mass Media from Houston Baptist University (1990) and a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1994). In January 2024, I began pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Apologetics at Southern Evangelical Seminary.
Beyond ministry, I’ve also been involved in private business ownership and operations, an experience that gave me a deeper understanding of the everyday challenges people face outside church life.
In my free time, I enjoy photography, cars, carpentry, fitness, and spending time outdoors—always grateful for the simple blessings God provides each day.
“Love God. Love Family. Love Life.”
Feeding children—body, heart, and soul.
For more than two decades, I’ve served as a Child Nutrition Foodservice Director (24 years), Sunday School Teacher (24 years), and Children’s Ministry Director (17 years)—and I’m still going strong. I’ve also been an aunt for 30 years, which may be my favorite title of all!
I don’t remember a single day in my life without children nearby. I’ve either been one, played with one, or cared for one. Our home was always filled with the laughter and energy of little ones—and it was always grounded in one unshakable truth: God first. My parents made sure respect and reverence for Him were at the center of our family life.
Born in Kentucky with roots equally deep in Texas, I’ve been blessed by the richness of both places—Kentucky through my father, and Texas through my mother. Those two heritages gave me a love for people from all walks of life and a heart for community.
In 1995, my father passed away from cancer, and a year later, my mother and I moved back to Texas to care for my grandfather. It was during that season of loss and change that my faith became my own—no longer my parents’ faith, but my rock, my source of strength and direction, and my All in All.
God’s faithfulness has guided every step of my life. He opened doors, led me through challenges, and combined my love for children and food service into a lifelong calling as a Child Nutrition Director. In His perfect timing, He also led me to a new church plant in Round Top, Texas—now Round Top Church Christian Fellowship—where I would one day become the Children’s Ministry Director and help launch our Stand Out After-School Program.
My passion is to share Christ with others, especially with children. I’ve experienced His unfailing love and devotion through my family, my church, and my community.
“To whom much is given, much is required”—and to me, that means love. I believe our children need spaces where they can grow in both body and spirit, surrounded by the truth of God’s Word and the assurance of His unconditional love.
It’s my prayer that the same love I’ve experienced through Christ will touch your life, too.
